During the last meeting the membership voted to replace the Christmas Dinner with an October picnic. Similarly to the way we replace the second meeting with the Christmas Dinner, the picnic will replace the first meeting. For more detailed about the upcoming event, click here.

Hiram Percy Maxim 151th Birthday Anniversary Special Event Station

How to get the W3HPM QSL CARD:  send your report/log, QSL card, and SASE to Antietam Radio Association, PO Box 52, Hagerstown, MD 21741-0052

To honor the 151th Birthday of ARRL founder Hiram Percy Maxim, Garry Laing (W3GTL) is coordinating a special event sponsored by the Antietam Radio Association. HPM is buried in Hagerstown, MD at the Rose Hill Cemetary.

The event is planned from 2 pm - 9 PM EDT on August 29 & 30, and on September 2 on the following bands: 20m, 40m, and 75/80mThe above bands are not set in stone, and may change depending on band conditions.  Both phone and CW will be utilized.

Hiram Maxim was born September 2, 1869 and is a co-founder of the American Radio Relay League.

Volunteer operators choose a block of time, operate from their home QTH (no traveling), and keep a log of contacts.  Respondents who make verified contacts and send in a SASE will receive a special event QSL card. This is a great opportunity for ARA to hold a real special Special Event Station.

If you are registered with W3CWC.ORG, you may also leave a comment indicating your availability to volunteer and you will receive a return email verifying receipt of your comment. This is one of the first times the comments have been opened for such utilization, but we are hoping it may help with getting things moving. If you are not yet registered, then you can email Garry directly (gtlaing@yahoo.com).

W3HPM is our special event call sign for this event.
